Improving Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) of Pre-Service English Language Teacher

The purpose of the study is to find out whether a five-week workshop and training season on TPACK of pre-service English teachers is effective or not. The author proposed three research questions as follows:
1.    Will TPACK of pre-service English teachers improve after the training and workshop?
2.    Do TPACK of pre-service English language teachers differ according to gender?
3.    What are the opinions of pre-service teachers about the TPACK training and workshop?

In answering those research questions, the author used a mixed mode method involving quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data that would be used to answer the first and questions were gathered through TPAC scale. Meanwhile, the qualitative data that would be used to answer the third question were collected through journal entries. There were 59 participants of the research (40 of them were female while the rest were male)

Based on the analysis of the TPACK scale using T-test, it was found out that there’s significant improvement between pre and post test result. It means that the TPACK training and workshop was effective to improve the TPACK of the participants. Related to gender, it was revealed that both groups (males and females) improved their TPACK but the female teachers showed higher improvement.


Meanwhile, from the qualitative data analysis gathered from the journal entries, it was revealed that after the TPACK training and workshop, the participant could list more websites, software, and apps and identify their purposes in language learning.

    I end up here and read your third summary... Well yeah apparently we summarized the same one :D I guess we also share the same thought about why male and female gained different development after the TPACK workshop and training.
